This resource is a website of organized video lectures that could replace a biochemistry course. It is complete, detailed and stands on its own. The quality of the videos is not excellent, and the lecture style is not interactive and dynamic. However, this is a comprehensive course and, if combined with a good textbook, could replace a biochemistry course.

This resource contains a series of video lectures that could replace a biochemistry course. It is complete, detailed, and stands on its own. This is a full course recorded by Prof. S. Dasgupta, Dept of Chemistry, IIT Kharagpur as part of National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning by Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc). The content is comprehensive. She has an accent, but she speaks very slowly which may work as an advantage for students whose primary language is not English.

Video lectures including slides are available for the following topics: amino acitds, protein structure, enzymes, enzyme mechanisms, myoglobin and hemoglobin, lipids and membranes, membrane transport, carbohydrates, vitamins and coenzymes, nucleic acids, bioenergetics, metabolism, and a general overview of the course. Videos are under one hour in duration.

It may not include more recent developments in biochemistry, such as in the areas of proteomics and metabolomics.

This is a comprehensive course. In combination with a good textbook, this resource could replace a complete biochemistry course. Faculty would only be needed to answer student questions and prepare examinations.
